Disabled Access Lifts
Universal Elevators provide a range of disabled access solutions to help you meet the 2010 Equality Act (EA) requirements.
Depending on your specific needs, we can install new disabled access equipment to your specification or modify your current system to incorporate disabled access features.
Examples include: installation of platform lifts, stair lifts and wheelchair lifts, or modifications such as lowering the height of buttons and upgrading features e.g. auto-dial communication units and audio/tactile equipment.

Equality Act (EA)
The Equality Act replaced the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) in October 2010. It states that reasonable adjustments must be made to premises where people with disabilities experience a ‘substantial disadvantage’.
This is an important distinction from previous legislation which stated that reasonable adjustments should be made where it would be ‘impossible or unreasonably difficult’ for a person with disabilities to use the service.
The Equality Act ultimately demands a more open and transparent approach to accessibility issues – placing greater emphasis on your duty as a service provider to make reasonable adjustments by removing barriers to disabled people.
